Food tasty, not overcooked. Plenty of choice. Will definitely go back

Carvery is well priced for the week BUT when it comes to Christmas they perform a poor service and are not able to cope well in my recent experience. The waitress was rushing around, there was no sound of Christmas music and for the pudding they got the menu wrong. For the main carvery I was given the ends of the turkey that should have been given to the dog. As we were three the starter and sweet course all came at different times. The sweet course was served one person one minute then the other two at five minute intervals but without the cutlery. Even the tea and coffee went to the wrong table. They could not even get the payment right at the end when they brought one price and then another until I showed him how to do it. Draw your own conclusion, but in mine they are not prepared for large events. Christmas carvery was similar to the weekly carvery and was not spectacular in any way so two stars is what I give them.
What an excellent surprise this pub turned out to be. We (myself, wife and granddaughter) elected to have the carvery. We had the range of sizes; child, standard, and large for myself. There is a choice between 3 different roasts (large, can have all 3, a large Yorkshire pudding and a sausage), pigs in blankets, then help yourself to a good variety of veg, sauces and plenty of gravy. The food is fantastic and very good value for money. The staff are very friendly and take the time to check if all is ok. The children get a small colouring set and there is a play area within the grounds.
Excellent food, pleasant atmosphere, staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble...thank you everyone.There is a children's outdoor play area and an individual crayons and activity sheet provided indoors . Parking is plentiful. Will certainly call again.
